Sixth form dress code
We have decided to change our dress code for sixth formers from 7th January when school returns after our Christmas break. There is strong research evidence to suggest a link between academic progress and dress. Students will be expected to dress in an appropriate way for an independent school.
For boys this will mean they must wear a jacket and tie with smart trousers, girls must wear smart business dress. Jeans, trainers, hoodies, T-shirts and other casual clothing will not be permitted.
GCSE & A level art trip
On Tuesday 27th November, GCSE and A level art students spent the day at Camden Arts Centre and Whitechapel Gallery. They had the opportunity to engage with a range of contemporary artworks. At Camden, students saw the work of Amy Sillman – a contemporary Abstract Expres-sionist painter whose monumental drawings commanded attention in the gallery. Her gestural drawings and paintings explore emotional and psychological terrain. At Whitechapel, students were immersed within the installa-tions of Elmsgreen and Dragset, where they enjoyed be-coming part of the artwork itself. These quirky installa-tions play with ideas surrounding reality and fiction – students had a lot of fun trying to determine which ob-jects were genuine, and which were replicas. Experiencing artworks in real life is an important part of Art Education, as it gives students a much richer sense of the work, com-pared to seeing them in books or online.
