Basketball tournament
This week has been the last week of our basketball sessions at Moberley Everyone Active Sports Centre, and we have been celebrating with a basketball tournament. All students were divided into four team houses; Cook, Radcliffe, Hoy and Redgrave and the tournament took place on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. There was some outstanding play by individual team members but the overall winner was team Radcliffe.
The year 11 and sixth form coaches did a particularly great job with their teams, so thank you to the following;
Yusuf – Team Hoy
Sak – Team Redgrave
Gorka – Team Cook
Zwe – Team Radcliffe
Assessment week
This week is our first assessment week of the year. Students have been sitting assessments in class time, and in many cases these will have been based on exam paper questions. The test results will be an important guide to see how well our students are progressing. Parents will receive a grade letter in the first week in November with the full results. Years 7-9 will receive a percentage mark for each subject, and to be making good progress we would expect marks to be above 60%. For years 10 & 11 the marks will be GCSE grade numbers 9-1, and for sixth form they will be A level grades matched against targets.

Halloween 2018
Halloween is an annual event celebrated each year on October 31st . It originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. It has become a big event in the USA. In Bales College we will use this opportunity to have some fun together and year 7 students will be making pumpkin lanterns during the day. All students can also come in Halloween costume for the day and will need to bring £1 to donate to charity. If students do not wish to take part they should come in normal school uniform.
