Teachers at Bales College go above and beyond the standard curriculum. They help students to develop new skills and life experiences, always willing to spend time discussing any issues or anxieties the students may be facing.
Teaching at Bales is about adapting to individual abilities, especially in smaller classes, and helping students to reach the level required. The school leadership team is also closely involved in monitoring academic progress, both with class results and general classroom work.
Classes are kept small to give teachers the flexibility to adapt to individual needs. Students who may be struggling to keep up can be given different work to get them up to speed. Likewise, highly academic students can be pushed to get exceptional grades, without affecting the other students’ progress.
Students at Bales are also encouraged to mix with the other years. This type of vertical integration creates a positive environment on campus, both in terms of learning and creating strong social networks.
We encourage an open and honest dialogue between home and school. We communicate with parents to ensure that students have all the support and discipline they need to complete homework and prepare for tests.
We also give parents detailed feedback on progress through school reports and parents evenings. Our Head of Key Stage 3 is always contactable by email and phone to discuss anything with parents.
